Official Top 10 Baby Names for Girls and Boys in 2012
So you learned in our previous article that Sophia and Jacob were the most popular baby names for 2012. But what about other popular names? According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), the top 100 contains a lot of surprises.
The most obvious change in the top 10 spots is that Liam replaced Daniel in a popularity contest that was assisted by actor Liam Neeson. His roles in the blockbuster movie “Battleship” and his major roles in other popular movie franchises like “Taken” and “The Chronicles of Narnia” surely helped the name Liam jump a few spots. Liam Neeson’s role in “Clash of the Titans” probably finished off Daniel in the final battle for the top 10 of baby names boys.
Top 10 Baby Names for Boys
As for baby names for girls, the top 10 remained mostly unchanged, apart from Elizabeth’s new entry. Even though it’s not the first time that Elizabeth breaks into the top 10, the name had lost space and was left behind for some years. However, in 2012 Elizabeth had a great year and an impressive come back. Elizabeth Taylor, pictured below, and Queen Elizabeth II are the most known celebrities for this name.
As for Sophia, a name of Greek origin that means wisdom, the hottest female celebrity with this name is Sophia Bush, pictured below. Born on July 8th 1982 was the only child of the famous celebrity and advertising photographer Charles William Bush. She is known for movies like One Tree Hill (2003), The Hitcher (2007), John Trucker Must Die (2006) and Stay Alive (2006).
